Tipu's
Mango Tree
We have also lost (in early March) the Patriach of trees
at Lalbagh - the 225 yr. old Mango tree planted
by Tipu Sultan himself. With this, the continuity of
living things with the founders of the
Rose & Cypress Garden, Hyder Ali and Tipu
Sultan, has now been irrevocably terminated. This tree
was leafless and dying for sometime. While not being
able to confirm this, I believe two of the nearby Mango
trees would have been planted at the same time as Tipu
Sultan's tree. |
