The Tiger’s Last Stand
Drive out into the Indian countryside in the footsteps of the English army as they marched upon the island fortress of Srirangapatna, capital of the legendary Tipu Sultan. Learn about what warfare in India was like in the 18th century. Visit Tipu’s fort and mosque, the dungeons, the garden palace of Dariya Daulat, Tipu’s tomb, and much more. Stop for lunch at the royal city of Mysore and visit the Mysore palace before heading back for Bangalore.

The Assault of Nundydroog
Enlist in the British Army and get ready to make an assault on Tipu’s impregnable fort of Nundydroog. Visit Tipu’s birthplace, then head for the Nandi Hills for a moderately difficult climb on foot to the hill fort. Explore the fort, then head back for lunch at a lovely farmhouse at the base of the hill. In the afternoon, if time permits, visit a 9th century temple and some British graves before heading back to Bangalore

The Hoysala Trail
Take a trip back in time to the glorious reign of the Hoysalas of Karnataka. Visit the stunning 12th century temples of Belur and Halebid and discover the close connections between Indian literature, art, music, dance, and sculpture. Then head for coffee country, to the lovely hills and dales of Chikmagalur, to discover the fascinating lore of Indian coffee. Finally, trek up Karnataka’s highest peak, Mullayyanagiri.
Duration: 7 am one day to 7 pm the next day
